Marla Rosenthal

Innovation Specialist/TOSA TK-5th Grade
Discovery Elementary School/San Marcos Unified School District

Marla Rosenthal started teaching General Education in 1997 and quickly gravitated towards two key populations: English Language Learners and students with Special Education needs. At the same time she was drawn to the educational use and incorporation of technology. Over the last 2 decades Marla has focused her professional development on these three areas, including becoming certified in Guided Language Acquisition and Development, earning a Master’s of Arts in Special Education and staying current on educational technology by using it regularly in class, attending trainings, and serving as her school’s Site Tech Lead Teacher. Marla now serves as the Innovation Specialist/TOSA on her campus where she works with every class on robotics, coding, design thinking, making, tinkering, and technology. Marla has presented at the CASTEAM Symposium and SDCUE about starting makerspaces at elementary schools.
