Irene Sauceda
Irene, age 25, was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She also lived in Colorado, and experienced homelessness with her mother throughout her childhood. By the age of 14, Irene had attended 11 different schools. Irene is now a Peer Leader with SchoolHouse Connection, where she mentors younger scholars who have been through similar circumstances. Irene graduated from Texas State University with a degree in Social Work and plans to earn her Masters in Social Work. She co-authored, “The Violence of Child Homelessness," in Violence Against Children: Making Human Rights Real (2017), in which she shares her story of youth homelessness.
