Jenny Sarna
Jenny Sarna joined Achieve in February 2019 as Director, District Support. She is responsible for working with district-level leaders on the implementation of college- and career-ready STEM policies and initiatives including science curriculum adoption and STEM career pathway design.
Previously, Jenny served as the PK-12 Science Manager for Chicago Public Schools where she built a strategy around quality science curriculum, professional learning and partnerships to support quality science instruction across Chicago’s 643 schools.
Jenny began her career in education as a 7th grade science teacher in Mexico. She completed a 2-year teacher residency at the University of Chicago’s Urban Teacher Education Program and joined Chicago Public Schools as a high science teacher, where she taught a variety of courses including Bilingual Chemistry and Physics and AP and IB Biology. Her work was recognized by the Illinois Science Teachers Association, who named her the 2013-14 ISTA/ExxonMobil Outstanding Teacher of Science. In 2014, Jenny became the High School Science Specialist for Chicago Public Schools. She supported NGSS implementation across the district by leading professional learning and strengthening the district’s Science Graduation
Requirements.
Jenny graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science. She earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from University of Chicago and a Master of Educational Studies from University of Illinois at Chicago.
