Mirka Mendez

Mirka, age 21, is a Young Adult Leader with SchoolHouse Connection, through which she engages in advocacy on behalf of other young people experiencing homelessness. Mirka came to the United States from Mexico as an unaccompanied youth at the age of 14. She lived in two group homes in El Paso, Texas until graduating from high school and moving to Austin, where she is currently studying Petroleum Engineering at the University of Texas.
