Samantha Johnson
Samantha just finished her 10th year of teaching. She currently teaches biology and AP biology at Arroyo High School, where she is also the coordinator for the Academy of Health and Medicine small learning community. Samantha is currently working on curriculum for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and workshops with the California Institute for Biodiversity. She was on the reading committee for the California NGSS framework, and is a regular presenter at the California State Roll-Outs for NGSS implementation, as well as at state-wide and national science education conferences. Additionally, she just received a $30,000 LIGHT award grant in order to work on cross-curricular climate change science education. She was recently named as president of the board for the California Institute for Biodiversity. She has a master’s degree in science education from UC Berkeley, and a BS in biology from UC San Diego.
