Jessica Brock

Jessica Brock is an elementary educator in Houston, Texas at The Parish School, a private school for children with speech and language disorders and learning differences. While pursuing her master’s degree in Special Education, she discovered the importance of an educational program that reaches children cognitively, emotionally, and socially. Her passion for teaching the whole child led Jessica to develop and pilot a project-based learning (PBL) classroom at Parish while also educating parents and colleagues on PBL and 21st century skills. In her research of project-based learning, Jessica found an information gap in how to implement it in special education classrooms. She hopes to represent special populations in the PBL dialogue and inspire others to utilize active learning pedagogies in their special education programs.
