Ms. Tu-Quynh (TQ) Bui was born in Saigon, Vietnam ~ the oldest of three children. Her family came to the USA as part of the massive influx of refugees at the end of the Vietnam War in April 1975 and is proud to become a naturalized US citizen in 1980. TQ is an electrical engineer by training and spent most of her NASA career in Mission Operations Directorate at Johnson Space Center (JSC) as a crew trainer (astronaut instructor), flight controller, and strategic integration engineer. She was a member of the Shuttle Mission Simulator training team who trained the former NASA Administrator and astronaut, Charlie Bolden, for his first mission as a Shuttle Commander on Space Transportation System-45. TQ joined JSC Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity in 2012. TQ is currently the JSC Disability Program Manager. TQ also serves in variety of functions as an Equal Employment Opportunity counselor, a mediator, and a special emphasis program manager.
