Featured in Forbes “30 Under 30,” Mary Jo is a born educator, from her start as a middle school teacher during her years with Teach for America to her current work as a lead at Google, where she leads growth and creative strategy for Google's two newest education + diversity initiatives—Code Next (a free computer science education program for black and Latinx high schoolers) and Howard West (a Google outpost for historically black colleges and universities where computer science majors can immerse themselves in coding instruction).

Aside from her time served teaching, Mary Jo was also a Director at EdSurge and one of four founding Education Entrepreneurship Fellows at the Harvard University Innovation Lab. She has a B.A. from Northwestern and a master’s in education from Harvard University. She has spoken at TEDxChicago, SXSWedu, Stanford University, and the University of Virginia, and attended REALITY Impact in the summer of 2018.
