In 2013, she completed a master’s degree in Community Art Education from the University of Texas at Austin, with a particular focus on art programs that serve adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Katie spent two-and-a-half years as an art instructor at The Arc of the Arts, where she worked one-on-one with artists with disabilities, organized gallery art shows, and sought outside exhibition opportunities for participating artists. In her own art practice, Katie primarily paints animals under the name Houndoggle Art. She has been named the Best Pet Portrait Artist in Austin, and her work has been displayed at numerous venues around Austin, including Art for the People Gallery and West Elm.
