Ivor Crotty’s experience working in Dutch factories in the 1990’s spurred him to study sociology, where he graduated with a first class MA from UCC in 2000. Ivor eventually taught sociology at University College Cork and in Lviv, Ukraine in 2003/4 with the Open Society Institute's CEP programme.

After a year in investigative journalism with the Dublin-based Centre for Public Inquiry, Ivor moved to Moscow in 2006 and worked with RIA Novosti, in mobile advertising with Gigafone and with RT. He became head of Social Media for the network in 2012, developing growth strategy and leading group relations with the social platforms. He set-up the RT Digital social-media journalism and UGC verification team in 2015.

Ivor was part of the creative team that developed the historical social media project #1917LIVE - proud winners of Shortys for Education and Social Good, a Webby and Adweek Arc awards. He is Dep Creative & Innovations Director with responsibility for brand storytelling and outreach on #1917LIVE, #Romanovs100 & #FansEyeView, a World Cup storytelling platform. He enjoys digital anthropology and building bridges.
