Allison Furton
Allison is from outside of Baltimore, Maryland and currently resides in Washington, D.C. She majored in genetics but shifted her focus to a career in public service via education after she joined Teach for America’s Bay Area corps as a special educator. Allison earned an MA in special education and helped promote the use of robotics, coding, and Google classroom for differently-abled learners. Allison has worked with response to intervention programs, taught special education, robotics, 3D printing, graphic design, digital citizenship, and film production over 5 years. She joined Strategic EdTech (SET) in 2017 as an EdTech & Innovation Consultant and Integration Specialist. Allison follows a conviction that it is critical for all students, regardless of background or ability status, to develop their own understanding of the world through integration of STEM and embedded design-thinking in education in order to be thriving participants in a global economy, to promote social change, and to close the achievement gap.
