Cipriano Vargas

Vista Unified School District

Cipriano Vargas is a graduate of California State University San Marcos, where he was the first in his family to graduate from college. It was this experience as a first-generation college student that led him to become a kindergarten teacher in San Antonio, Texas. After teaching in San Antonio, Cipriano ran for the school board in his hometown of Vista, California, and became the youngest elected board member at the age of 24. As a school board member, Vargas is pushing the conversation about early childhood education, dual language programs, and educational equity across the district.
