Atyani Howard oversees a wide range of client work, including TNTP’s strategy around curriculum, instruction, assessments, and helping districts make the shift to higher standards. Atyani brings nearly 20 years of academic and leadership experience to TNTP and started her career as a public school teacher in Chicago, Illinois. Most recently, as the Chief Academic Officer at Camino Nuevo Charter Academy in Los Angeles, California, she developed a professional learning community for school leaders to ensure they each became outstanding instructional leaders. She has also served as a teacher, department chairperson, assistant principal and principal with Camino Nuevo. Under her school leadership, the Burlington campus received the Title 1 Academic Achievement Award in 2010 and 2011. In 2015, Atyani was recognized with a Bright Spot Award from the White House Initiative for Hispanic Excellence. She holds a BA in multicultural studies and English and an MA from Northwestern University.
