Amelia Bachleda
Amelia Bachleda, Ph.D. is an Outreach and Education Specialist at the University of Washington’s Institute for Learning & Brain Sciences. I-LABS is an interdisciplinary research center that focuses on early learning and brain development. As a trained science communicator, Dr. Bachleda works to put the latest science into the hands of those who can act on it by developing resources and delivering trainings nationwide. Since joining I-LABS in 2015, she has had the opportunity to share the science of early learning with thousands in the early learning community, including parents, child care providers, educators and policymakers.
Prior to her work at I-LABS, Dr. Bachleda earned a B.S. in neurobiology at the University of Washington and a Ph.D. in neurobiology at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Her graduate work focused on brain and sensory development. She has also developed content and curriculum materials for the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC.
