Maya Georgieva is an experienced Education Strategist and Futurist. As the Director of Digital Learning at The New School, Maya leads innovation in the design of Digital Learning and VR/AR and Mixed Reality initiatives. She works to engage the community and provide strategic leadership in creating an institutional culture and capacity for innovative design with emerging technologies. In her role, she strives to establish The New School as a center for excellence in immersive design, media, and education. At the XReality Center, a new research center with the purpose to advance the study and design of emerging technologies in the field of virtual, augmented, and mixed realities, Maya leads in the areas of Immersive Learning and Research.

She is the co-founder of Digital Bodies - Immersive Learning. DigitalBodies.net is rated in the top 10 HigherEd Must Read Blogs. She writes and presents on trends in higher education with a focus on digital strategy and innovation, learning design, educational technologies, Augmented, Virtual and Mixed Reality and EdTech startups. In her work, Maya brings strategic insight and deep understanding of the higher education landscape. She has authored white papers and research studies for Higher Education institutions, corporate organizations and education startups.

Maya leads the design of learning, interactive and social experiences for students, faculty and employees through workshops, hackathons, design thinking sessions, seminars, and conferences. She regularly facilitates onsite and online professional and faculty development programs. She has facilitated seminars on Immersive Storytelling, Innovation in Higher Education, Future of Learning, Emerging Technologies, Digital Literacy, Virtual and Augmented Reality Experiences for corporate and education organizations.
