Race, Social Media, & the Role of Schools
From #BlackLivesMatter to the Stoneman Douglas High activists, students are masterfully using social media to organize, create counter spaces, and foster meaningful debate on national issues. Educational institutions, however, continue to take for granted the platform’s influence on student’s political and social development. This session seeks to facilitate a discussion about how institutions support student activists and the ways social movements can inform learning and development.
