How Chicago Put Summer Melt on Ice
Why do so many low-income, first-generation students experience summer melt? This was our question when we saw that each year 5,000+ college-bound Chicago students did not arrive on campus after high school graduation. In this session, we’ll share how we decreased the melt rate for 1,000 students by mobilizing diverse stakeholders to set a shared goal, strategically allocating investments using disaggregated data analysis, leveraging near-peer advisors, and increasing partnership across sectors.
