How Do We Get Effective Principals at Scale?

Lora Dever

ESC Region 13

An effective principal accounts for 25% of a school's total impact on student outcomes. State and federal accountability solutions have not compelled instructional improvements at the rate and scale that advocates hoped for- and ensuring every school is lead by a well-prepared and well-supported principal remains beyond our collective grasp. Participants will gain a fresh perspective on the problem by examining recent research from sociology, neuroscience, and organizational development.
