Helping Student Activists Succeed

Students have been on the forefront of social change for decades, from 1960s sit-ins to the campus sexual assault movement. Recent movements like Black Lives Matter and March For Our Lives show that younger and younger students want to make change happen. Using a case study of an after-school high school activist club, we will demonstrate how educators can create spaces for activists to succeed while acknowledging that we ourselves may have much to learn about 21st century social justice.
