Teaching in the Era of Fake News

In the current divisive political climate, it is increasingly difficult to help students encounter, validate, and explore multiple perspectives. We are teachers who consistently facilitate productive discussions on current events in class. We developed a process that we would like to share with other teachers for creating a safe environment, teaching media literacy (the right way), and guiding students through the minefield of bias and controversy that all of us feel when we turn on the news.
