Eric Mintz
Dr. Eric Mintz received his B.S in chemistry from Washington State University in 1973, and his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts in March 1978. Dr. Mintz has carried out post doctoral research in both organic and organmetallic chemistry at the University of Massachusetts, R.W.T.H. Aachen, 5100 Aachen, Federal Republic of Germany, Institut für Anorganisch Chemie, and at Northwestern University. Dr. Mintz joined the department of chemistry at West Virginia University in 1981 and moved to Clark Atlanta University, as an associate professor in 1998, and was promoted to full professor in 1996. Dr. Mintz has over thirty five years of research experience in organic, organometallic and materials chemistry and has published over 120 technical publications and patents. Over his tenure at CAU he has developed and led several large multi-investigator research programs and served as interim chair of chemistry and interim V.P. for research and sponsored programs. Dr. Mintz chaired the Academic Council Ad Hoc committee that developed recommendations for Academic Policy reform and the Academic Council Ad Hoc committee that developed the new general education framework. Dr. Mintz currently directs CAU’s UNCF Career Pathways Initiative and serves as a special assistant to the provost.
