Alicia Simon
Dr. Simon holds duel appointments at Clark Atlanta University as an Assistant Professor of Sociology & Criminal Justice, and newly appointed General Education Curriculum Faculty Coordinator.
Her studies under such accomplished scholars as Dr. Asa Hilliard and Dr. Andrew Billingsley, shaped her scholarly passions for Sociological activism. Dr. Simon’s areas of research include: The Black American Experience, Campus Sexual Assault, Contemporary Socio-cultural Issues, Racial/Ethnic Relations and Criminal Justice. The “College Success Prep” series she created 10 years ago, for at-risk students in Atlanta, is one of her most coveted projects.
She is a frequent contributor as a socio-political commentator on radio and television. Dr. Simon also has been featured in scholarly journals, as well as popular publications such as Ebony and Jet magazines.
Dr. Simon began her scholarly journey as an undergraduate at Southern University where she was a double major, earning degrees in both Sociology and Criminal Justice. She then earned her Master’s Degree in Sociology with a concentration in Criminal Justice, at Clark Atlanta University; and went on to earn her Doctorate, also at Clark Atlanta University.
