Sarah Iddrissu
Sarah was born and raised in the Washington, D.C., area and Ethiopia. Sarah first began advocating for equity in education at 11 years old, and has since continued this advocacy as a profession. After graduating from Cornell with a degree in industrial and labor relations, Sarah became a special education teacher for middle school students with emotional disturbances in the Bronx. In NY, she was an Educators for Excellence teacher leader and organized teacher-led school improvement efforts within her school building. She later taught sixth-grade reading in the greater Boston area. After feeling limited in her ability to advocate for her students, Sarah decided to study education policy and management at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where she focused on systemic leadership and had the opportunity to work to support teachers at Boston Public Schools.
