Christopher Hanks, an former assistant professor in Grand Valley State University’s Undergraduate Foundations of Education Program, leads the Grand Rapids Public Museum School. Hanks has been on the GVSU faculty since 2009. He has a doctorate in philosophy of education from Indiana University, a master’s degree in educational administration and bachelor's in philosophy from Baylor University. Besides GVSU, Hanks has worked as an research assistant and principal evaluator for Indiana University but does have K-12 experience. He worked for the La Vega Independent School District in Waco, Texas, from 1994-2000 as a director and lead teacher for its alternative high school as well as an GED instructor.
