Brett Emerson graduated from Harding University in 2004 with a Master's of Education in Reading Intervention (M. Ed.) and is a Certified Reading Intervention Specialist (K-12). After graduating from Harding, he taught for one year with Memphis City Schools before moving to Togo, West Africa, where he lived and worked on rural village development projects with his wife and two small children for 5 years. After returning to the States in 2010, he taught for 2 years for Memphis City Schools before the district became present day Shelby County Schools. His passions include teaching Reading and Science, coaching sports, and gathering, analyzing, and implementing data that leads to effective instructional strategies that meet individual student needs.
