Lisa Hinkelman

Lisa Hinkelman, Ph.D., Founder/Executive Director, Ruling Our eXperiences (ROX), a national non-profit organization focused on the health, safety, education and empowerment of girls. Previously, as a counselor and professor at The Ohio State University, Dr. Hinkelman grew wary of experts talking about what girls need when they’d spent little time listening to girls from around the U.S. Dr. Hinkelman set out to more deeply understand the realities of girls’ lives by interviewing and spending time with thousands of girls. Her book, ‘Girls Without Limits: Helping Girls Achieve Healthy Relationships, Academic Success, and Interpersonal Strength’ helps adults more deeply understand the challenges facing girls. Dr. Hinkelman was recently honored as a Nominated Changemaker for the United State of Women, a movement highlighted by First Lady Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey, and as a 2017 Social Entrepreneur by the international venture philanthropy foundation Draper, Richards, Kaplan (DRK).
