Dr. Melissa Crosby taught high school math for ten years before transitioning to a project-based learning classroom. Dr. Crosby then led the implementation of Cougar New Tech Entrepreneurial Academy, the first of its kind in the State of South Carolina, on the campus of Colleton County High School in rural South Carolina. Cougar New Tech became a National Demonstration Site for the New Tech Network in 2015. As Principal of Colleton County High School, Dr. Crosby is working to expand opportunities in project and problem-based learning for all students by pushing the boundaries traditionally held by the comprehensive high school model; she is opening a second New Tech Academy this year with a focus on health careers.
Prior to teaching, she served as a corporate controller in the forest products industry, an invaluable experience which served to shape her teaching.
She is a graduate of the College of Charleston and Walden University.
