Jonathan Moscone

Jonathan brings his passion for the arts, politics, and the people of San Francisco, to his work at YBCA. Through creative placemaking, youth programming, political advocacy and community partnerships, Jonathan activates YBCA’s mission in the public realm; creatively engaging the people of San Francisco in shaping the future of our schools, neighborhoods, and city. Prior to joining YBCA’s leadership team, Jonathan served for 15 years as artistic director of the California Shakespeare Theater (Cal Shakes). Under his leadership, Cal Shakes made a name for itself as one of the country’s most aesthetically progressive and culturally diverse classical theaters, pioneering educational and community engagement programs aimed at broadly expanded the Theater's community.
