Timothy Reidel
Riedel led a study at UCLA identifying the source of fecal contamination at Topanga Beach using state-of-the-art molecular sensors. Riedel developed and is implementing the curriculum for the DIY Diagnostics Stream course undergraduate research experience in the Freshman Research Initiative at UT Austin. Riedel has participated in regional I-CORPs and Austin Technology Incubator programs on technology translation. This has not only provided valuable experience for commercialization but has allowed him to provide experiences for entrepreneurial undergraduates. Riedel is currently working with the UT College of Natural Sciences to develop an undergraduate commercialization experience for science majors. Dr. Riedel is piloting the concept, which is intended to demystify key industry and commercialization practices and empower students to engage in commercialization activities early in their undergraduate education.
