Yvonne Tackie
Yvonne Tackie is a Master teacher and Instructional Specialist in Washington, DC. As an immigrant from Paris, France and Ghana, West Africa, Yvonne found the transition to the United States quite challenging in all areas, especially in school. Due to that, when teaching students from varied backgrounds, Yvonne transforms curricula by incorporating relevant cultural connections. In addition to that, Yvonne has collaborated in creating benchmarks for Friendship Public Charter Schools, piloting curriculum such as Wit & Wisdom, and leading content and training professional developments. Yvonne also teaches youth empowerment for Heartsmiles Inc. in Baltimore, Maryland. She holds a M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction-ADMIN, and a B.S. in Elementary Education. In 2016, Yvonne was Teacher of the Year at the Friendship-Blow Pierce campus. During the summer of 2017, she completed Cohort VII, with NAATE (National Academy of Advanced Teacher Education) at Yale University. On any given day, Yvonne loves to spend time with her family & friends, practicing yoga, and a little retail therapy every now and again!
