My start in education began when I was taking commercial classes during a lost, lazy summer in Southern California. I discovered that I was terrified of the camera however the teaching actor changed my life when he said, “I had never thought of teaching but have found it to be a magical practice. I’ve learned so much by doing it.” I left there, never returned and changed my major the very next day. I received my BA in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Visual and Performing Arts. I started work in Long Beach public schools before moving to Pittsburgh in 2001 where I taught in a Pre-K/K classroom while also creating and teaching the art program for students, Pre-K through 5th grade. I’ve been in the field of education in some capacity for the past 20 years. Most recently it has been my pleasure and honor to work with the Pittsburgh community, schools and families doing Museum Education with The Mattress Factory for the past 9 years. My focus has been on accessibility initiatives.
