Megan Roberts

Megan Roberts, Ed.D. is the Executive Director of Math for America (MƒA), a nonprofit organization that builds a community of accomplished mathematics and science teachers who make a lasting impact in their schools, their communities, and the profession at large through collaboration and continued learning.

Prior to joining MƒA, Megan served for four years as Executive Director for the Office of Innovation within the NYC Department of Education. During this time, she and her team worked to support the school-based design of innovative whole school models, building on the understanding that today’s education system requires transformation to prepare students for the 21st Century.

Megan also spent 16 years working in the New York City public school system where she began her career as a Science Teacher in Manhattan. She then became a middle school Principal and then the Regional Director for STEM, where she oversaw the curriculum, instruction, and professional development for schools across Manhattan and the South Bronx.

Megan holds an Ed.D. in Science Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, an M.A. in Secondary Science Education, and a B.S. in Earth and Environmental Science. She is a past Woodrow Wilson Science Teaching Fellow; a Fulbright Memorial Teaching Fellow; and a Columbia University Science Teacher Research Fellow, for which she now serves on the advisory board. She is on the Board of Directors for the National Science & Technology Medals Foundation and is a mentor for the Deeper Learning Equity Fellows, a national group of emerging leaders in addressing issues of educational inequity.

Megan has published articles and presented nationally and internationally on topics in geosciences, science education, professional development, educational technology, and innovation in education. She has given talks, keynote speeches, and moderated and participated in panels at conferences and event
