Jonathan Chin

Adjunct Lecturer
City University of New York

Jon Chin is an educator, a poet, a 2nd dan blackbelt, a software engineer, and a social entrepreneur. His greatest concern is how to leverage breakthrough technology to address the human condition in illuminating ways. Jon's classrooms are often attended by laughter, sometimes so much that they’re asked to pipe down. He's currently completing a master's degree in English Education at New York University while teaching in the City University of New York system. Jon is also pioneering a new Computer Science and Entrepreneurship for Social Good course for high school students at the Cooper Union.

Outside of teaching, Jon is invested in end college hunger. He founded a benefit corporation, Share Meals, that uses technology and activism to eliminate food insecurity; his work on this front has been featured in the New York Times and US News and World Report. He's been awarded the 2017 Clinton Hunger Leadership Award and has been named one of NYC Food Policy Center's 40 under 40.
