Dr Sophia Jones-Redmond
Dr. Jones-Redmond is the Superintendent of the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice (IDJJ). She has continued direct to the transformation of the educational program mandated by a Federal Consent Decree. She was promoted after serving as the Assistant Superintendent or the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice. Before her efforts at the IDJJ, she served as the Director of Special Education in Harvey School District 152, Principal of Carl Sandburg Elementary School and Assistant Principal O.W. Huth Middle School. She has also worked as the Director of Field Placement for Chicago State University and a Special Education Teacher/Coordinator for Chicago Public Schools. She began her career supporting diverse populations struggling with HIV related issues as the Director of Prevention/Education Cook County Hospital.
