Dr. Jane Echevarria is Professor Emerita at California State University, Long Beach, where her research focuses on effective instruction for English learners, including those with learning disabilities. Additionally, she is a co-developer of the SIOP Model (Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol) and co-author on the SIOP Model book series. Dr. Echevarria is also a member of McGraw-Hill Education’s team of authors for Wonders, a connected suite of programs to support core English Language Arts instruction for non-EL and EL students. She received her Ph.D. in Education from UCLA, and her doctorate earned her an award from the National Association for Bilingual Education’s Outstanding Dissertations Competition.
