Tierney is the Director of Production at Flocabulary, an ed-tech company that makes learning engaging, relevant and accessible for students of all backgrounds using hip-hop. She oversees creative content production and works with artists to make music. Tierney has collaborated with the United Nations, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Common Sense Media, Turnaround Arts and NY EdTech Week as well as the musicians Fat Tony, Nitty Scott, Donwill, Sammus and Dai Burger. She spearheaded a series of social justice videos at Flocabulary, defying standards about when and where social justice is taught. Tierney has published articles in Feministing and presented at several conferences in St. Louis, New York City and Bowling Green, OH. She has a BA in creative writing and an MA in popular culture. She lives in Brooklyn.
