I teach courses in rhetorical theory, professional communication theory and practice, publishing, grant writing, and qualitative research methods using service learning and client-based project pedagogies. I coordinate the Professional Writing & Rhetoric (PWR) area in the English Department, Professional Writing Studies interdisciplinary minor, and Center for Undergraduate Publishing and Information Design (CUPID) at Elon. You can learn more about these programs by following the links below.
I am also the lead faculty member in Elon's Design Thinking Studio in Social Innovation pilot program, which I developed with four interdisciplinary colleagues and launched Spring 2017. In the Studio program, students take one, full-semester, fully integrated, immersive academic + community experience to engage design thinking, social innovation, collaboration, and local community issues with local community leaders and citizens.
