Chris Jackson
Chris Jackson is the Chief Communications Officer for Big Picture Learning, an organization that for 20 years has worked steadfastly to put students at the center of their own learning. Big Picture recognizes the growing problem of student disengagement from schooling, and addresses that issue by establishing schools (over 65 around the country) that teach to students’ interest both through curriculum and community-based internships. Prior to his work with Big Picture Learning, Chris was the founding Director of the College & Work Readiness Assessment (CWRA), a problem-based assessment of 21st century skills. Chris has also taught high school creative writing, served in AmeriCorps, and distributed books to the nation’s most in-need children as part of the national team at Reading Is Fundamental (RIF). Chris holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing from the University of Colorado and a Master’s Degree in Policy and Non-profit Management from the New York University Wagner School of Public Service.
