Michelle Zimmerman

Michelle Zimmerman, received her PhD in Learning Sciences and Human Development from the College of Education at University of Washington in Seattle. She has presented her research across the US and in Canada through American Educational Research Association, International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), Serious Play Conference at DigiPen, University of Washington, GBLNY at NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Emerald City Comicon, The Learning Counsel at T-Mobile Headquarters, and various teachers’ conferences. Teaching full time inspires her research. She has taught all grades from preschool-10th. Her research focuses on learning design, bringing research into practice within blended, authentic learning environments where students become teachers and researchers. She is proud to see the reality of her research implemented into practice through the lives of her learners in winning various competitions (Africa Day essay Seattle University through blind review; film competition Museum of History and Industry, selected for The Congress of Future Medical Leaders) and presenting at conferences with her at ISTE, NCCE, Emerald City Comicon, UNL TechEDGE, Pacific Science Center, and now at SXSWedu.
