Elena Madrid
Elena Madrid has dedicated over 20 years to the field of education, showcasing her passion and commitment through various leadership roles. Currently, she serves as the Supervisor for Technical Assistance with the Department of Adult Education and Literacy at the Texas Workforce Commission in Austin, Texas. Her experience includes roles as an Assistant Director for Student Leadership and Campus Life at El Paso Community College and as a Literacy Coordinator for Ysleta del Sur Pueblo in El Paso, Texas.
Elena’s career is distinguished by her strong advocacy for student representation and her drive to make educational resources equitable and accessible. She has campaigned for the TWC AEL Scholar of the Year award and regularly speaks on empowerment, education, and success strategies. Elena has contributed significantly to the development and facilitation of student leadership workshops and conferences and has served on the COABE Students as Leaders Task Force. Additionally, has serced as a council member of the Gathering of Circles, a non-profit that supports diverse communities in sharing healing practices and navigating life pathways.
Elena holds a BA in Journalism from New Mexico State University and an MA in Leadership Studies from the University of Texas at El Paso. Her own experience as a first-generation college student drives her to empower others by making technology and resources more accessible. She is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and a Disciplined Agile Scrum Master.
Her leadership, coupled with her dedication to continuous improvement and collaborative communication, has significantly influenced the adult education landscape in Texas. Elena's work ensures that grant recipients and service providers are equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge to achieve optimal results in their programs.
