Christopher Cabaldon
I'm the mayor of what was the forgotten old-industrial small town on the other side of the tracks (in this case, the tracks are the Sacramento River) and is now the fast-growing, entrepreneurial city at the forefront an emerging American metro. We make rules mostly by breaking them,...the city is just a platform for our residents, companies, institutions, and newcomers to unleash great ideas. We were a 2015 Code for America city, and our how-did-a-little-city-do-that innovations on urban farms, universal preschool, flood protection and floodplain management, and college and career pathway internships have made it to the national and international stage. Also, I just might be the nation's leading heretic on the topic of civic engagement.
At the US Conference of Mayors, I chair the Jobs, Education & the Workforce Committee. We're deep into youth employment, college and career pathways, America's College Promise, early learning, and digital badging.
