Rachel Davenport
Rachel Davenport is a senior lecturer in the Biology Department at Texas State University. She earned her M.S. in Biology and Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Florida State University. Dr. Davenport, who started at Texas State in 2011, teaches Modern Biology I and II, which are large introductory courses for non-majors. She also teaches Vertebrate Physiology and coordinates the accompanying labs, which she designed to be project- and inquiry-based. She developed and offered the first hybrid course in the department, which has since moved fully online. Dr. Davenport is a member of the National Association of Biology Teachers, and a member of several campus committees including the Honor Code Council and the Distance and Extended Learning Steering Committee. Dr. Davenport received the College of Science and Engineering’s Achievement Award in Teaching in 2016. In 2017, she was selected as a Namesake for Bobcat Preview, and received the Texas State University Presidential Distinction Award in Teaching.
