How Our Unconscious Bias Affects Our Students

It’s no secret that students of color get punished more and have less access to veteran teachers than their white peers. Black and brown students are more than twice as likely to drop out of high school than their white peers. African American students are more likely to be designated as needing special education, often for minor behavioral problems. At what point do we admit that our education system may be racist? And what can education leaders do to reverse the trends?
