Many education reformers claim that teachers unions are the reason for subpar performance by U.S. schools. Unions and others claim that charters are sucking needed resources from students in district schools. Is there a bad guy here? In this talk, we present some new and old data on these topics, and lead a discussion of how we might do further research on both issues. Undoubtedly, we will walk out with different opinions, but hopefully, we’ll walk out with the same facts.
