The Invisible 34%: First-Gen College Students

What do Oprah, Sonia Sotomayor, and Michelle Obama have in common? They were the first in their families to attend college. 34% of undergraduates today are achieving the American dream as first-generation college students. They offer a unique perspective on K-12 education but are often ignored by decision makers. This panel, presented by Students for Education Reform, in partnership with former First Lady Michelle Obama’s Reach Higher and Better Make Room campaigns, gives these students a voice.
