Smithsonian Early Enrichment Center - Preschool Classroom Educator
I am a museum educator at the Smithsonian Early Enrichment Center (SEEC), teaching pre-kindergarten. I left work in non-profit communications to get involved with education during the summer of 2010 facilitating health and exercise programs for young children throughout DC, Maryland and Virginia. Promoting fitness with young children provided me the foundation to transition into the early childhood classroom, starting at SEEC in the fall of 2012 as an assistant teacher in the toddler program. The following year I started my current role as a lead classroom educator in the preschool program. Each day is a thrilling adventure as my co-teacher and I construct an emergent curriculum inspired by the amazing community around the Smithsonian Institution. I hold a B.A. from the University of Missouri, and received a M.A.T. in Early Childhood Education from Trinity Washington University in 2015. I am compassionate about community based learning and access to high quality developmentally appropriate environments for all children.
