Summary

K-12 educators need a broad conceptual foundation and effective strategies to teach about the current refugee crisis in the Middle East. To meet this need, this interactive session will dive into the topics of forced migration and the current crisis, explore political debates and humanize the statistics through individual narratives of those affected by this global issue. Educators will gain access to vetted resources for further exploration and education on the complex topics surrounding these topics. Educators will also learn models for best practices for teaching about the crisis as we walk through relevant classroom-ready activities, grounded in a project-based learning structure.
