Summary

The best early childhood education available effectively tackles young children’s common fears in entertaining ways while teaching complex topics in STEM education. Adults play a key role in early learning. Consequently, program designs need to also consider the beliefs and fears of the adults raising and educating the children, too. We have an opportunity through two trusted community resources for early learning, our National Network of Public Broadcasting Television Stations and Public Libraries, to demystify fears and build excitement and knowledge for STEM. Two case studies in science education for early learners will demonstrate the benefits of this type of community engagement.
