Summary

Does anyone really believe that 21st century universities will give up revenues to outside contractors for services like marketing or enrollment management? In the rush to put content online, colleges have acquiesced to an Online Program Management (OPM) revenue-sharing model that is unsustainably costly. Now a market worth $1.1 billion, university leaders and policy makers are taking notice that large portions of tuition are being siphoned off to pay for services that are not linked to outcomes. This session will analyze the evolution of OPM, and the variety of new unbundled models that are emerging, as universities explore alternative cost-efficient approaches to going online.
