Summary

The session will be an intro with a hands on activity into problem solving through community-discovery methods. This method can be used to satisfy three classroom goals: students innovating for their communities, teaching leadership skills and utilizing technology. The session will start with a briefing on empathizing with students of color, followed by a presentation about the cycle of validated learning for finding solutions. The activity will require the audience to break into teams and apply these methods with help from the speaker. Followed by a debrief of the results and dialogue on ways to implement these methods in class with the use of different technology to engage the students.
